  • Boost the immune system
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Decrease risk of cancer
  • Support weight loss
  • Supply vitamin D
  • Protect brain health (from dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease)
  • Maintain heart health
  • Improve gut health
  • Improve mood
  • Stop drinking and drug use*

Why are mushrooms popular?

Mushrooms are also popular because they are easy to grow, can be grown anywhere, and are relatively fast growing. They do not need sunlight (a grow lamp will work), soil, or fertilizer. Just mist a couple times a day with water. Your first harvest will be about two months after inoculation or opening your kit and misting it for the first time.

The mushroom kits and supplies we carry will provide you with plentiful produce that you can eat fresh, dried, or ground up for supplements.

Our gourmet mushroom grow kits come with everything you need to grow your first harvest of mushrooms sustainably: a five pound colonized spawn bag, pump mister, and simple instructions to grow your own mushrooms indoors all year long. The kits and a la carte supplies are produced by Myco Labs in Crystal Lake, Illinois (outside Chicago) and are 100% organic and made from recycled materials and use minimal resources (a special blend of hardwood and grain spawn with first generation mycelium).

Our selection includes kits, individual mediums/substrates, hosts, grow bags, fruiting chambers, culture syringes, petri dishes and more. Once you grow your first mushrooms you will want to purchase your supplies individually to be reused and grow larger batches. Once you have one mushroom, you can slice off a chunk and put it in a petri dish to start the spores. The spores are then injected using a syringe into a substrate such as fresh-cut disease-free hardwood logs or sterilized hardwood sawdust mixed with supplements, such as cottonseed hull, soybean hull, or wheat bran.

If you do not want to create your own cultures, we sell liquid cultures in syringes for most varieties of mushrooms that will allow you to grow up to 10 batches of mushrooms in a bulk container or smaller batches for up to a year if stored correctly.

No matter what your comfort level is with growing mushrooms, the knowledgeable staff at the Indoor Earthworm will help you get started and grow your mushroom “garden”. They will also answer all of your questions and help you with any of your other indoor and outdoor grow needs.

*Statement made on customer reports. Consult with your doctor before using mushrooms to treat addiction.
